The Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial has been getting plenty of coverage on the small screen lately, with Network TEN screening this excellent scene-setting feature on its RPM motorsport programme on Sunday August 3.
Stay tuned for a follow-up behind the wheel feature on RPM on Barry Ferguson's 'lost-and-found' 1979 Repco Reliability Trial HDT Commodore that will be going to air before the Trial . We will advise you of the screening time as soon as it is locked in.
Round Australia Trials are an important part of Australia’s
motor sport heritage, ranking with the Australian Grand
Prix and the Bathurst 1000.
Since the Redex Trial in 1953, thirteen Round Australia
events have been run. In 2008, The Red Centre to Gold
Coast Trial continues this tradition.

What will you experience from the Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial?
- Adventure. Travelling over remote roads and tracks in outback Australia, re-living the challenges the Round Australia Trial drivers had to face from the 1950s to the 1990s, and testing the endurance of you and your vehicle.
- Competition. The Red Centre to Gold Coast trial is made up of competitive rally sections on closed public roads or private farm tracks, timed to the second over challenging terrain. These competitive sections range from 20 to 100 kms in length, and are linked by transport sections to be covered at road legal speeds
- Camaraderie. Sharing the twelve day experience with 100 other competing crews, officials and service crews, starting with a welcome function in Alice Springs and continuing after each day’s competition, with the grand finale at a gala presentation function on the Gold Coast.
Round Australia style events happen only once every decade or more. The Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial offers a rare opportunity to participate in an event that epitomizes the traditions of Australian Motor Sport: adventure, competition and camaraderie.
Don’t miss the opportunity. It may be many years before it happens again.
